Questions & Answers from the Webinar

How are daily activity points calculated?
When you have a device linked to Motion Connected that shares step and/or active minute data, you start earning  points automatically whenever you meet the daily activity goals (if your program has a scorecard). 1 - 6 points can be earned per day for your steps or active minutes. Our system will always award points for whichever metric equates to the higher number of points on any given day. The minimum number of steps needed to earn 1 point is 4,000, and the minimum number of active minutes needed to earn 1 point is 10.  See a more detail breakdown below:

What are active minutes?
Active minutes are an activity metric calculated by some devices. The term 'active minutes' appears in your Motion Connected account, but some brands have a different name for this metric, such as "Intensity Minutes" in Garmin or "Exercise Minutes" in Apple Health.

How 'active minutes' are calculated also varies slightly from brand to brand, but generally, compatible devices will start recording 'active minutes' any time your heart rate reaches a moderate or greater intensity (as determined by your device) and stays there for at least 10 minutes. Some devices may also record minutes when motion is detected for 10 minutes or more. Motion Connected does not calculate active minutes but rather pulls the data reflected in your device's account.

I have a Fitbit, how do my Fitbit Active Zone minutes translate to Motion Connected?

Many newer Fitbit devices track active zone minutes. These "zone minutes" are calculated differently than active minutes and therefore, are not pulled by our system.

Although you may not see active minutes listed in your Fitbit app, they are still counted by Fitbit. Unfortunately, Fitbit no longer lists active minutes in their app. However, they can be found on your online dashboard by logging in at Fitbit.com. The number of active minutes you find listed on Fitbit's website is the number being pulled for your active minutes in Motion Connected.

How do I upload documents in my scorecard (such as a verification form)?

If your program has a scorecard and requires the submission of a document or form, follow these steps:

1. Login to your Motion Connected account.

2. Tap the Light Bulb in the app or click the Scorecard tab if signed-in on desktop.

3. Locate the activity you wish to upload a document for and click on its title.

4. Click on the 'Upload a File' button.

5. Select your document (either picture or scanned copy) and hit submit.

How do activity challenges work? Where can I find them?

For most programs, activity challenges are held throughout the year. If you have a compatible device linked, you can participate! An invitation with a sign-up link is emailed to you 2 weeks before a challenge begins. At that time a sign-up link is also posted to your Message Board in your Motion Connected account.

Every challenge is unique, so be sure to read the challenge description when you join to learn what the goal is. The goal for each challenge will be based on steps, active minutes, or distance (in miles). After you've signed up for a challenge, you can view the leaderboard by going to the Challenges page.

If your program has a scorecard, you can often find a list of upcoming challenges by clicking on "Activity Challenges" in the scorecard. For all other programs, please contact your program administrator for details.

When do I receive points for completing an activity challenge?
If your company participates in our challenge calendar, points will be awarded to you 3 days after the challenge ends if you met the challenge goal. Always be sure to check that your data has synced before then.
