Feeling overwhelmed, tense, or distracted? Try one (or a few) of these quick techniques to reset your mind and body in under two minutes.

Use Positive Self-Talk

Shift your internal dialogue in the moment:

  • "I can handle this."
  • "This feeling will pass."
  • "I'm doing the best I can right now."

Even a single supportive thought can interrupt stress patterns.

Try the 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Technique

Bring your attention back to the present:

  • 5 things you see
  • 4 things you feel
  • 3 things you hear
  • 2 things you smell
  • 1 thing you taste

Fresh Air (60 seconds)

Just 60 seconds of fresh air can make a difference for your mind and body:

  • Boosts your mood
  • Clears your mind
  • Energizes your body

Sometimes, one minute is all it takes to reset your day.

Controlled Breathing (30-90 seconds)

Slow your nervous system down with intentional breathing:

  • Inhale for 4 seconds
  • Exhale for 6-8 seconds
  • Repeat for up to 90 seconds

Longer exhales help signal your body to relax.

Add a Micro-Movement

Release built-up tension with small movement:

  • Shake out your hands
  • Do a quick stretch
  • Roll your neck or wrists

You don't need a full workout — just a reset.

Release Shoulder & Jaw Tension

Stress often hides in your body. Try this:

  • Shoulders: Shrug up → hold → drop
  • Jaw: Unclench and gently press your tongue to the roof of your mouth

It seems small, but it can noticeably reduce tension.

You don't need a lot of time to feel better — just a moment of intention. Try one of these the next time you need a quick reset.
