Over the years, I’ve discovered a few go-to ingredients and food products that are versatile and go perfectly with some of my favorite healthy meals. I like to keep foods like whole grain tortillas and a good hot sauce on hand to make up a few of my favorite meals and snacks.

Because I’m always looking for new foods to try, I wondered, what are others’ healthy food staples? So I posed the question to the Motion Connected office. Here are the personal favorites they had to share.

1. Garlic Expressions Classic Vinaigrette Salad Dressing

“This is THE best salad dressing and marinade! It’s delicious when tossed with butter lettuce, tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella. It also serves as a wonderful marinade for roasted fresh veggies and chicken on the grill.” -Toni

2. Crunchmaster Multi-Seed Original Crackers

“They’re good for dips, cheese, plain, pretty much anything! I like to use the crackers with tuna salad and horseradish spreadable cheese.” -Cheyanne

3. Peanut Butter & Frozen Steam-able Bags of Vegetables

“I think peanut butter is a given!” -Sierra

4. Spinach: Fresh or Frozen (Both Work!)

“I add spinach to my eggs, spaghetti sauce, chicken enchiladas.  Can use in in salads and on sandwiches or in tacos in place of regular lettuce.  Can also chop up and add to homemade hamburgers or meatballs.  Great way to sneak in some extra nutrients.” -Amanda H

5. Ezekiel Bread

“We have a few in our house however this is one we eat regularly.  Low on the glycemic index and all natural. Tastes a little earthy if you’re coming from eating white bread.” -Graham

6. Palermo’s 100% Pure Avocado Oil & Ginger Root

“I use a small amount of avocado oil when cooking with a frying pan in place of the popular canola or vegetable oil, butter or non-stick sprays. A great perk of using avocado oil to cook is that its burning point is considerably higher than other cooking oils, allowing you to cook at higher heats without having that charred taste from the burned cooking oil. I also use avocado oil in place of vegetable oil when baking cakes, brownies, and homemade bread.

Nothing beats the taste of freshly grated ginger root into chicken or pork fried rice, into marinades for chicken and vegetables on the grill, or a chunk of root into the blender for a green smoothly in the morning." -Monica

7. Chobani Non-Fat Plain Greek Yogurt

“It is a great substitute for sour cream, and you can’t tell the difference. I use it on tacos or enchiladas in lieu of sour cream. I also use mix it with Hidden Valley Ranch dry mix for veggie dip instead of mixing with sour cream. I have made cheesy hash brown potatoes and used it as a sour cream substitute. I buy the Friday’s Potato Skins and use the yogurt to dip instead of sour cream. I also like to just put a little in my fruit smoothie.” -Katie

8. gimMe Sushi Nori (Roasted Seaweed)

“My kids love nori!  We use the large sheets for at-home sushi nights. Similar to a taco or tortilla, we use nori to wrap roasted salmon, avocado, rice, cucumbers, and carrots, topped with a splash of soy sauce.

The gimMe Organic Sea Salt roasted seaweed snack-packs are great for a quick on-the-go snack or lunchbox add.” -Amanda R

9. Good Ol’ Onions, Garlic, and Oil

“I know this one may be basic to some, but these ingredients are a great base for so many things: soups, casseroles, sauteed vegetables, rice, chicken etc.” -Sarah

10. Mission Organic Whole Wheat Tortillas

“These are the BEST whole grain tortillas ever! I searched for a long time to find a good whole grain tortilla, and this is it. I like to use them to make enchiladas, quesadillas, and wraps, but they would be great for tacos too.” -Adrianna

11. Eggs

“I love eggs because they can be used and made in so many different ways. Scrambled, fried, boiled, even baked! Plus, I can add so many kind of veggies and proteins to them.” - Kennedy
